Some things you will need
When you get the doll you will be reborning, the most suitable ones are the LaBaby dolls (20 inch) or a Berenguer doll (Leonor for example) – these are especially ideal as they can be picked up quite cheaply and so are excellent to practice on.
If you have problems, I would suggest starting with any closed eye doll that is a soft vinyl. Closed eyed reborns are easier to get a good end result. The Leonor doll mentioned above is an excellent example of this and I would highly suggest starting with this one.
Although the doll is the most important thing you will need, there are many other supplies that you are going to need as well. The items below should be everything.
Doll Supplies
These parts are needed for you to make your reborn doll, and are specific to reborning. You can find most of these on Ebay or right here on this site.
- 1 Doll or Doll kit. See above – Look out for the LaBaby or Berenguer Leonor, but you can reborn any doll.
- Replacement Eyes if required – Half sphere eyes of a suitable size.
- Replacement Cloth Body – The cloth body of the doll almost always looks better if you replace it. You don’t have to do this, but I would highly recommend it.
- Eyelashes
- Poly Pellets, glass beads or baby fat pellets
- Polyfil
- 2 shades of premium Mohair. You can use a wig instead if you do not want to microroot, but they do not look as good. You can use a single shade or even 3 if you like however.
- 38 gauge rooting needles – Look out for a 40 as well, and a mushroom rooting tool.
- Reborn doll outfit or clothes
